Biography

Ramona Munteanu was born in Cluj Napoca, Romania. She began studying piano at the age of 5. She graduated the Sigismund Toduta Music Lyceum in 2000. In 2005 she received a diploma in piano performance at the Gheoghe Dima Academy of Music in Cluj Napoca. She then continued her studies, attending courses for a Master’s degree at the same Academy and received a post-graduate degree in piano with the maximum grades. In 2010 she obtained a second post-graduate degree at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice. She has won numerous scholarships, which gave her the opportunity to study in Italy, Spain, portugal and the United States. She participated in the masterclass of famous pianists: Andre Watts, Peter Serkin, Luca Chiantore, Andrei Gavrilov, Piero Rattalino.

Ramona Munteanu began her concert activity very early, appearing as soloist at the age of nine with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Music Lyceum in Cluj Napoca, Romania. She has won national and international musical competitions: 2009 third prize at the national competition “Citta di Piove di Sacco,” Italy in the chamber music section. In the same year, she won the competition to perform with the orchestra of the “Teatro La Fenice”. In April 2011 she won Third Prize in two categories, soloist and chamber music, in the national competition “Citta di Piove di Sacco”. In July 2011 she won Second Prize at the international competition “Festival di Bellagio and Lake Como” in the chamber music category. In 2018, she won the First Prize in the international competition “Note sul mare” in Rome.

In the past few years she has been actively involved in concert activity as a soloist and in chamber groups, performing in prestigious venues such as the Teatro la Fenice, Teatro Malibran, Teatro Goldoni, Ca’ Rezzonico, Palazzo Labia, Ateneo Veneto. Several times she performed first audition pieces in Venice as “Ballet Mechanique” by George Antheil and “Diary of Anne Franck” by Grigori Frid. In January 2020, she played an entire concert dedicated to Weinberg. She participated at various Music Festivals in Italy : Festival Delle Nazioni – Teatro di Marcello ( Roma), Il Suono di Vino, Sogliano al Rubicone (Rimini) , Zungoli Classica ( Benevento)

She began teaching piano in 2005 and since than she was very active as a piano teacher in several cultural associations as the Istituto Superiore d’Arte Musicale, La Sordina, Il Suono Improvviso and others. She had several students the won important piano competition in Italy. She was also invited to teach at “Evvai piano masterclass”, Pieve a Presciano in Toscana and “Corsi musicali all’Isola d’Ischia” in 2019. In 2018 and 2019 she worked as a collaborative pianist in the Conservatory of Padua and in the Conservatory of Udine.
